OLE WANSCHER (1903 – 1985)
Ole Wanscher was the Professor of Architecture (with the art of furniture making as his specialty) at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1955-73 and a member of the Fellows of the Royal Academy 1963-68 and of the Academy 1968.
Ole Wanscher worked for Kaare Klint from 1924 to 1927 and then set up as an independent architect specializing in furniture design.
Through his many years of co-operation with master joiner A.J. Iversen, Ole Wanscher developed a number of exclusive types of furniture that mark highlights in Danish furniture making. His ties to Georg Jensen include a competition proposal design made in 1966 for a set of sterling silver flatware.
